London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) - After starting with the Lightning as an assistant coach in 2016-17 and taking over head coaching duties for the 2019-20 season, the Lightning are pleased to announce the return of Doug Plumb as head coach.
Last season, under Coach Plumb's leadership, the Lightning enjoyed their best record win percentage since the team's 2018 Championship run. The Lightning was a central division leading 15-8 before the COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2029-20 season.
"I'm excited to be back in the Forest City. It has been a challenging two years for everyone and we hope to bring some joy and normalcy back to everyone's lives as we chase a championship and finish what we started." - Coach Doug Plumb
Plumb's extensive resume includes stints as both an assistant coach and head coach with the St. John's Edge and elite skill development with the likes of Nike Basketball, NBA players, and some of Canada's talented young high-school and college athletes.
"The London Lightning are excited to have Coach Plumb back for this season. We both feel like we have some unfinished business with how our last season ended and we know he is who we want on our sidelines." - General Manager Mark Frijia.
Coach Plumb looks to build on the foundation and culture he's laid and ultimately bring a fifth championship to the Forest City and the great Lightning fans during the 2021-22 season.
