Local astronaut to appear at Cougars soccer camp
Stockton, CA - The Stockton Cougars, of the Professional Arena Soccer League (Pro-PASL), announce that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronaut Jose M. Hernandez will participate in Friday's (June 20) award ceremony at the Cougars soccer camp in Lodi. More than a hundred youth soccer players are scheduled to participate. The camp begins at 9:00 a.m. The award ceremony will follow the camp session held at Peterson Park in Lodi, California.
Hernandez will speak to the local youth about his career and offer his story to help motivate the players.
Hernandez has been a member of the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas since 2001. He was born in French Camp and considers Stockton to be his hometown. He attended the University of Pacific and graduated with his B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1984. He pursued his masters degree at the University of California - Santa Barbara after the completion of his bachelors degree. He graduated from UCSB in 1986 with a M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering.
Other upcoming sessions include dates in Manteca and Ripon.
The second Manteca camp will occur from July 14 to July 18 at Big League Dreams.
The Ripon camp will be held at Ripon Sports Complex starting on July 28 and ending on August 1.
