Hempstead, NY - Greg "Beast" Gurenlian lived up to his monstrous moniker in the New York Lizards' 18-11 victory over the Florida Launch (1-7), going a beastly 27-for-31 on face-offs.

Gurenlian, a 2015 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star, won the game within the game, sparking a high-powered Lizards (8-0) offense that included scores from a bevy of contributors.

Rob Pannell had a seven-point (five goals, two assists) effort, Tommy Palasek netted five, Matt Gibson notched a hat trick and an assist, and Paul Rabil turned in a four-point (one goal, three assists) performance. Ned Crotty scored twice, Jo-Jo Marasco had three points (one goal, two assists), and Kevin Unterstein added a goal for the Lizards.

With the win, New York inched closer to its 100th victory in franchise history. The Lizards will have the chance to reach the historic milestone on June 20th, with a contest at home against the Charlotte Hounds.

After an early feeling out process, Pannell got the Lizards on the board with 8:47 left in the first, on a shot between the legs of Launch backup goalie Adam Fullerton.

Florida starting keeper Brett Queener was forced out of the game with an ankle injury early in the opening stanza, but the Lizards had trouble capitalizing on the situation.

New York wrapped up the first period with a stretch of over eight minutes without a goal. Florida pressed the action after their starting goalie left the game, peppering away with shots until breaking through on consecutive goals from Kieran McArdle, Miles Thompson and Lyle Thompson.

Palasek found the back of the net 1:24 into the second to cut the deficit to one, but Casey Powell netted one to put Florida on top, 4-2, at the 10:38-mark of the second quarter. Unterstein got New York back within one with 3:22 before the half, and Crotty tied it at four in the waning seconds of the second.

Marasco broke open the deadlock in the first minute of the third, before Gibson connected to put New York ahead, 6-4. New York pulled away in the second half, outscoring Florida, 14-7, in the final 30 minutes of play. Drew Adams had 16 saves in the Lizards' victory.

Looking ahead, New York returns home for a contest against the Hounds on Sat., June 20th at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a special edition Lizards t-shirt.

During the game, the Lizards will wear special edition "pink" jerseys that will be autographed and auctioned off to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. For tickets to the June 5th game, please call 1-855-NYLizards or visit NYLizards.com/Tickets.
