Lizards Take on The Today Show Tomorrow Morning

August 3, 2009 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
New York Lizards News Release

America's fastest growing sport is ready to take over Rockefeller Plaza and the country's number one morning show this week. The Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) will make their live morning television debut during the eight o'clock hour of NBC's The Today Show on Tuesday, August 4th. The Lizards will bring their A-game to Today to prove why lacrosse is sweeping the nation one stick at a time.

Since the MLL's founding in 2001, the Long Island Lizards have been a force to be reckoned with in the world of professional lacrosse. They are one of Major League Lacrosse's most historically successful teams, winning the MLL Championship title in both 2001 and 2003. Lizards General Manager Casey Hilpert is excited about the Lizards' Today Show appearance and says he is "happy about how the season is turning out both on and off the field for the Lizards." Steve Ferretti, Sponsorship Marketing and Special Projects Coordinator for the Lizards, echoes Hilpert's enthusiasm and says that "the Lizards are excited to show why lacrosse is America's most up-and-coming sport."

NBC's The Today Show is America's number one morning news and talk show. Today has been the highest-rated morning talk show every week since 1995 and launched an unprecedented fourth hour of programming in 2007. The Today Show currently features anchors Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira, weatherman Al Roker, news anchor Ann Curry and correspondent Natalie Morales.

The Long Island Lizards hope that their August 4th Today appearance will get fans excited for Major League Lacrosse's Championship Weekend on August 22nd and 23rd in Annapolis, Maryland. They are set to take on The Today Show team on Tuesday, August 4th during the 8 AM hour on NBC.
