Lizards set to open training camp April 29th

Uniondale, NY - The Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) today announced their 2006 Training Camp schedule. The three-weekend camp will open on Saturday, April 29th at Cold Spring Harbor High School, and travel to five other locations across Long Island: Mt. Sinai, East Hampton, Westhampton Beach, Half Hollow Hills and, tentatively, Rockville Centre.

The highlight of the Lizards 2006 Training Camp will be a weekend trip out East to the Hamptons. The Lizards will visit East Hampton High School on May 6th and Westhampton Beach High School on May 7th.

"We want to showcase ourselves to a mix of towns," said Lizards General Manager Brad Cronin. "Heading out to the Hamptons shows our added emphasis on making stops where our exposure has been limited in the past. We are truly committed to representing all of Long Island and can't thank our fans enough for their tremendous support."

All Lizards training camp sessions are free and open to the public. Following each practice, Lizards players are available for autographs and fan interaction.

The Lizards current pre-season roster consists of 35 players, which will be reduced to 26 players (23-man active roster and 3-man practice squad) on May 15th.

The Lizards will host Media Day at their final tune-up practice on Tuesday, May 16th at Garden City High School.

Long Island's 2006 season will open at home, on Saturday, May 20th at Mitchel Athletic Complex. The 7:30 PM season opener features a rematch of last season's MLL Championship Game, as the Lizards host the Baltimore Bayhawks in a contest that will be nationally televised on ESPN2. In addition, the Lizards are hosting the FDNY vs. NYPD lacrosse game prior to their match, with face-off set for 5:00 PM.
