Lizards provide assist on Roosevelt's goal

New York Lizards News Release

The Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse donated 500 tickets yesterday for their August 12th home game to the Roosevelt High School Athletic Department in the hopes of helping the high school raise money for their athletic programs. The athletics program at Roosevelt was cut out of the budget earlier this summer leaving the students and parents with the choice of either raising the money themselves or not fielding athletic teams this year.

Lizards President Dave Kotowski wants to get the word out that these student-athletes need your help. "Sports play an integral role in the life of a child and to have that taken away from them because of a lack of funds is not acceptable. The Lizards will do anything we can to help Roosevelt Athletics get back on the field and we urge others in the community to step up as well." said Mr. Kotowski in response to why he felt it was so important to help out.

In order to field a Fall Varsity Sports program Roosevelt has to raise approximately $76,000 and the total jumps to $200,000 to fund the programs for the entire year. Roosevelt Assistant Varsity Football coach Brett Brown is grateful for all the help that the Lizards are providing but asks that everyone find it in their hearts to help out, "We still have a long way to go and need to continue to raise money for these kids." Time is of the essence as the deadline to raise money for the fall season is fast approaching.

If anyone is interested in donating money to the Roosevelt athletic program contact either General Manager Tim Kelly or President Dave Kotowski at 631-424-2606.
