New York Lizards News Release

With the Supplemental Draft officially opening up the 2014 season and allowing teams to expand their rosters for the first time this off-season, the Lizards have picked up female goalie Devon Wills from the player pool.

Wills is currently in her second season an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at the University of Southern California. Before joining the Trojans, Willis spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Denver.

A graduate of Dartmouth University, Wills currently ranks second on the school's all-time saves list with 538 career saves and a 7.14 goals against average. She was a three-time member of the All-Ivy first team and named an All-American three seasons throughout her college career.

Devon was a member of the Team USA Developmental program from 2003-2006. In 2007 she was named to the World Cup training roster and has served as the team's goalie ever since. As a member of Team USA, she won two gold medals in 2009 and 2013. In 2013, she was named to the FIL World Cup All-World Team and in 2009 she was named Player of the Match for the championship game, where she made eight saves and allowed just five goals in the US team's win over Australia.

"I think it's a huge honor and I am super grateful for the opportunity that Coach Spallina is giving me by picking me up" said Wills. "This is a huge opportunity to challenge myself. This is sports and I'm really excited to see if I'm good enough to play at this level. If I'm good enough, that's great, but if not, I'm still really grateful for the opportunity."
