Lizards participate in Autism Walk
October 24, 2006 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
New York Lizards News Release
The Long Island Lizards joined more than 500 teams, and an estimated 20,000 participants for the 7th Annual Long Island Walk for Autism Research at Jones Beach on Sunday, October 22, 2006.
The 3.1 mile walk was sponsored by Autism Speaks, a nonprofit branch of the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR), which is dedicated to increasing autism awareness. The foundation strives to "give a voice" to the autism community, and is currently the largest single organization devoted to autism in the nation. The walk provides the opportunity for sufferers and their families alike to educate the public about one of the nation's fastest growing developmental disorders, and involve the community in supporting and speeding the process in finding a cure.
The Long Island Lizards were thrilled to have been one of several supporters that partook in the event. The franchise set up a table and gave away multiple items, including Commerce Bank autograph books, MLL t-shirts, New Balance lanyards, and media guides to the Walk's participants.
