The Philadelphia Barrage (3-5) defeated the Long Island Lizards (4-3), 18-17, in front of 2,754 fans at Villanova Stadium on Thursday evening. Kevin Lowe had six assists before falling to a torn ACL in the fourth quarter, with a return later in the season questionable.

The Lizards trailed 8-4 early in the game, but mounted a seven goal run in the second quarter to take an 11-9 lead into halftime. The game remained close for the rest of the game, with Brian Dougherty playing phenomanal as usual between the pipes. With the score tied at 17-17, B.J. Prager scored the game-winning goal with a behind-the-back shot, and the Barrage were able to run out the clock to defeat the Lizards for the first time since 2002. Long Island still holds a 9-3 lead in the all-time series against the Barrage.

Chris Massey led the Lizards with three goals, while A.J. Haugen, Kevin Finneran, Conor Denihan, and Jarred Testa added two goals apiece. Tim Goettelmann, Jay Jalbert, Andrew Wasik, Steve Sombrotto and Chris Cercy added one goal.

The Lizards head into a huge two game series against the Baltimore Bayhawks next weekend. The teams will meet for the first time since the 2003 Championship Game at Mitchel Field on Friday, July 23rd, at 7:30 PM. The game was originally scheduled for June 25th, but was rescheduled due to severe weather. The two teams will meet again the very next night, June 24th, at Towson University outside of Baltimore.
