
Lizards Face Defeat to Machine

Delaware, OH (July 18th, 2015) - After a hard fought game, the New York Lizards fell short against the Ohio Machine by the final score of 14-9. This brings the Lizards record to 10-3 with only one regular season game left.Â
Paul Rabil had a four point game made up of two goals and two assists. Rob Pannell and Ryan Walsh each contributed two goals during the game. Mike Stone and Tommy Palasek had one goal apiece. Rookie, Conrad Oberbeck, scored his first goal of his MLL career in the fourth quarter.Â
The first quarter was controlled by the Ohio Machine, as they were able to get seven points on the board to the New York Lizards two goals. Rabil landed the first goal of the game while Stone scored the second during a powerplay.Â
In the second quarter, the Lizards defense tightened up as Ohio was only able to sneak in one goal. The Lizards netted two goals in the quarter with Tommy Palasek scoring the first goal of from an assist by Kyle Hartzell. Pannell also scored his first goal of the game bringing the Lizards to within four at the end of the first half.Â
It was quite the back and forth battle on the field during the third quarter. Ohio worked to keep their lead as New York put forth effort to catch up. The Machine scored five points during the quarter as the Lizards scored four. Walsh had two goals in the 3rd, while Pannel and Rabil each had one. This left New York five points behind Ohio going into the forth.Â
The last 15 minutes of the game only consisted of two goals, one from each team. The last goal of the game was scored by New York's attackmen Oberbeck. Though a great effort by the Lizards, New York was not to able walk away with a win in Ohio.Â
Follow the New York Lizards on July 25th as they head to Denver for their last game of the regular season against the Outlaws!Â
The following week, New York will return home to host their first playoff game ever. Come out to James M. Shuart Stadium and support the Lizards as they compete for the Steinfeld Cup on Saturday, August 1st at 6:30pm.
