Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA - Young girls wanting to experience a taste of what it is like to be a member of a dance team for a professional sports organization will get their chance this summer as part of the annual Little Miss Renegades event.
The Ottawa Renegades Molson Canadian Light Dance Team is looking for girls between the ages of 6-13 to perform at the home game at Frank Clair Stadium against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August 11. Participants will be taught a routine that they will perform during the half time show. Members of the 2005 Molson Canadian Light Ottawa Renegades Dance Team will be instructing the girls in preparation for the promotion.
"Little Miss Renegades is a chance for girls in the community to come and see what being a dance team member is all about. They learn a routine, attend practices and dance during the half-time show. It makes for a great childhood memory," said Melanie Reid, Coordinator of the Ottawa Renegades Molson Canadian Light Dance Team. "For some girls, this is their first introduction to dance. We hope that this positive experience encourages them to develop a love for dance. For all we know, some of these girls could become future Renegade Dance Team members."
Registration will be held at Lansdowne Park's Coliseum Building on Monday, July 18th (from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Tuesday, July 19th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is a maximum capacity for 100 participants and it will be based on a first come, first registered basis. Rehearsals will be held on the football field at Frank Clair Stadium on three different days:
Wednesday July 27th, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Wednesday, August 3rd, 7:00-8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 10th from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Participants are required to attend all rehearsals and are asked to wear appropriate attire (i.e. jogging pants, shorts, running shoes, etc.) Dance experience is not required.
There is a $45.00 (non-refundable fee) per girl. Each participant will receive a Little Miss Renegades T-shirt, a pair of poms and one game ticket. Extra tickets can be purchased at the time of registration at $25 apiece (upper North Side, section D & F).
Ottawa returns to action on home turf Saturday, July 16 for a Week 4 affair against the Calgary Stampeders at Frank Clair Stadium.
