Lions Win a Nail-Biter & Betts Ties a Record
Published on October 14, 2023 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
The BC Lions pulled out a gutsy, last-second win in the Hammer against a desperate Hamilton Ti-Cats team, winning 33-30 on the road!
With the score tied 30-30, and one-minute remaining from their own 37 yard line, late substitute Dane Evans marched the team down the field to the Hamilton 41, setting up a last second 48 yard field goal by Shaun Whyte to win the game!
It wasn't only a huge game for Evans, who shined in front of his old team, but Mathieu Betts shone as well, tying the Canadian record for most sacks in a season with 17, tying former BC Lion Brent Johnson.
