Lilavois And Farber Combine For Eight Goals In 13-8 Stockton Win

STOCKTON, Calif. - February 12, 2009 - Cougars head coach/forward Bernie Lilavois led all scorers with six points during Stockton's 13-8 win at Stockton Arena on Thursday night against the Chico Bigfoot. The win moved Stockton's (10-4) magic number to clinch the Western Division to just one with two regular season games remaining.

A crowd of 3,317 watched Lilavois net three goals and add three assists in the win, while midfielder Brian Farber recorded a team best five goals in the match.

Lilavois scored both the first and game winning goals in the match. He led all scorers with three first half goals and recorded two assists before the half time break. He led his team to a first half lead of 8-2.

After recording five goals in the win, Farber has a team best 32 PASL-Pro goals this season. He also leads the team with 40 goals in all competition. Lilavois leads the team in points with 52 - 31 goals and 21 assists - in the PASL-Pro.

Farber recorded an amazing bicycle kick for the home crowd with just five seconds remaining in the third.

Chico - third place in the Premier Arena Soccer League's (Amateur) Pacific Division - failed to score a goal in both the first and third quarters. However, they scored four unanswered goals during the early portion of the fourth and netted six total fourth quarter goals.

The Cougars took 16 more shots on goal than Chico in the match. Stockton peppered the Bigfoot goal with 38 shots, while Chico totaled 22.

Uriel Robledo scored both an assist and goal in the match. He has recorded five goals over his last three games played.

Ato Leone matched Lilavois with three assists in the match. Both Nelson Santana and Pedro Lupercio had two points in the match. Santana had two first half goals and Lupercio recorded two assists.

Assistant coach Antonio Sutton recorded one goal in the match. He last recorded a goal on January 3 against Calgary at Stockton Arena. He missed Stockton's last two matches due to injury.

Stockton next plays the Denver Dynamite on February 21 at the Denver Sports Center. A Stockton against Denver win will give them a first round bye in the upcoming Professional Arena Soccer League championship tournament between March 13 and March 15 at Stockton Arena.

The February 21 match will air via online streaming audio on www.stocktoncougars.net and will air on 1420AM KSTN on a tape delayed basis.

Stockton returns to action at home on February 26 with a match against the Wenatchee Fire. The match is highlighted by a bobblehead give away. The first 800 kids in attendance will receive a Brian Farber bobblehead with paid admission.
