Before playing its final two home matches of the year at the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin next month, Lights FC hosted the team's final game of the year at Cashman Field by taking on the El Paso Locomotive FC.
After the Lights controlled possession of the ball in the first 10 minutes of the game, the visiting Locomotive FC opened the score in the 12th minute with a picture perfect pass from Erik McCue that found its way to Miles Lyons despite being touched by Alejandro Mitrano. Lyons chipped it over goalkeeper Leo Diaz for his first goal as a pro. El Paso took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break, which ended up being the final score.
This was the third game this season that the Lights failed to register a shot in target, the other two occurrences happening on the road in matches that were also closely contested: a scoreless draw against Indy Eleven and a 1-0 defeat against Louisville.
Las Vegas native Zander Romero had his second consecutive start in Lights FC's lineup in this match, which was his ninth appearance in the 2023 USL Championship season. He was subbed out of the game in the 70th minute, with fellow Vegas native coming into the match for the 16th appearance he has had for his hometown team.
This was Lights FC's last game at Cashman Field of the year before playing twice in Summerlin during October.
NEXT GAME:
For the first time ever professional soccer will be played in Summerlin, Nevada as the Lights' will be taking their talents to the Las Vegas Ballpark for both of its home matches in the month of October: against Colorado Springs on the 7th and versus San Diego on the 14th. Tickets for these games are available at LightsFC.com/Summerlin
NEXT GAME:
