July 23, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Las Vegas jumped back into a playoff spot in USL Championship's Western Conference by defeating Oakland Roots SC by a final score of 2-0.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, but Oakland saw their goalkeeper Paul Blanchette sent off with a red card in the 43rd minute.
It only took Las Vegas ten minutes into the second half to take the lead with Danny Trejo's tenth goal of the season, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to reach double-digit goals in a single season.
Tony Leone extended the lead for the Lights with a header in the 73rd minute. It was his first goal of the 2022 USL Championship campaign.
This was Abraham Romero's fourth clean sheet of the season, second in a row after having an 8 save shutout against RGV FC last week. Against Oakland he was credited with 4 saves.
Lights FC won on the road for the fifth time this year, all of them as underdogs.
