Lights FC Falls 2-0 Against the Best Team in USL
Published on August 13, 2022 under United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC continued their four game road trip by taking on San Antonio FC, second matchup in less than three weeks against the best team in USL Championship this season.
Las Vegas possessed the ball more, but San Antonio was able to capitalize on a pair of opportunities they had in the last quarter hour of the first half to go into the halftime break up 2-0 courtesy of a goal from Dominick Hernandez and an own goal from Alex Lara in added time.
SAFC doesn't only boast the best record in USL Championship in 2022, but also the defense that has allowed the least amount of goals, shutting out Lights FC's offense for the second time this year, with both games ending 2-0 in favor of the Texan side.
Abraham Romero played for the first time since July 23rd, in which he got his second clean sheet in a row. With San Antonio's first goal of the match, Romero saw his streak of minutes without allowing a goal snapped at 241.
SCORING SUMMARY:
1-0 San Antonio, Dominick Hernandez - 34th minute
2-0 San Antonio, Alex Lara (own goal) - 45+1 minute
NEXT HOME MATCH:
Lights FC will return to Cashman Field on Saturday, August 20th to face Sacramento Republic FC, with kick off set for 7:30 p.m. During the halftime break, a seven hundred person U.S. Naturalization Ceremony will be held on the pitch.
Tickets are available at LightsFC.com/Tickets and start at just $10 thanks to the SUMMER OF SOCCER PRESENTED BY TERRIBLE'S.
NEXT MATCH:
Las Vegas will play the final match of their four game road trip on Wednesday, August 17th against the defending USL Championship title holders Orange County SC at 7:00 p.m. PT.
