London Lightning News Release

(LONDON, ON) - The Lightning got a 104-90 win over the Lansing Pharaohs Sunday afternoon in their first taste of cross-border matchups with US-based The Basketball League teams.

It was a much better showing offensively for the Bolts to start the game as they poured in 32 points in the opening frame. Defensively, they struggled to slow down the Pharaohs' shooters allowing them to go 6-9 from deep and score 29 points of their own in the first.

The Lightning defense would tighten up in the second and third frames, holding Lansing to 17 points in both quarters. London would hold the lead for the remainder of the game, going up by as many as 27 points in the third. Coach Plumb's bench played a majority of the second half minutes as well as provided the bulk of the scoring on the day. Lansing would put together a late game push, outscoring London 27-23 in the fourth, but London still cruised to a comfortable 14 point victory.

Terry Thomas led the Bolts in scoring with 19 points off the bench. Mareik Isom, Amir Williams, and Jordan Jensen-Whyte each scored 12 off the bench, with Cam Forte the only starter to score in double-figures with 10.

The visiting Pharaohs were led by Lance Adam's game-high 28 points on 8-13 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Lightning returns home to the Budweiser Gardens Wednesday, March 9th for their next game against the KW Titans.
