London Lightning News Release
(London, Ontario) Record attendance for a London Lightning game were treated to a 87-82 victory over Saint John. London clinches the first ever NBL Canada play-off series.
"I think it was a great game," explained Coach Micheal Ray Richardson on his teams victory. "We didn't really play well but we played well enough to win. Once you get to the playoffs it doesn't matter if you win by 30 or you win by 1 the most important thing is that you win, and that's what we did." Free throws iced the win for London, but they had numerous contributions from all dimensions of the roster. The Lightning ended the game with five players in double digits, led by Shamari Spears with 18. Gabe Freeman, Eddie Smith, Tim Ellis and DeAnthony Bowden contributed with 14, 14, 13 and 11 points respec-tively. 10 total rebounds favoured London and that may have been the difference down the stretch.
The John Labatt Centre total attendance was 3919. London awaits the winner of Quebec vs. Halifax to play for the NBL Canada Championship trophy.
