Lightning Win Close One Against Knights

The Southern Crescent Lightning professional menÂ’s basketball team continued its winning ways this past weekend with victories over its two biggest rivals. The hundreds of fans at both games were rewarded with high-flying dunks, great shooting and two unbelievable finishes.

On Saturday against the Gainesville Knights, the Lightning escaped with a 120-119 win as the Knights last-second basket was ruled a 2-pointer. The Lightning was led by Nate Williams with 24 points and 13 rebounds and Marcus Taylor with 22 points and 6 assists.

On Sunday, Nate Williams scored a turnaround jumper at the buzzer for a 106-104 win over the Macon Blaze. Bobby Brown had 25 points and 5 steals while Dajan Smith added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jimmy Baxter contributed 14 rebounds and 10 points.

The Southern Crescent Lightning remains on top of the Eastern Division of the World Basketball Association with a 12-5 record. The two remaining home games are June 14th at Starr's Mill High School at 7pm with the band ARIANA playing before and after the game and June 18th at Starr's Mill at 7pm with another game concert, The Wild Hearts Band. They will be playing before and after the game.
