Lightning Win Big in Windsor

(WINDSOR, ON) - The London Lightning are now 2-0 to start the 2022 season and sit half a game ahead of Kitchener-Waterloo for first in the NBLC after defeating the Windsor Express 115-92 Saturday night at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.

The game started evenly matched as both teams struggled with sloppy play and turnover issues. London held a narrow 19-18 lead after the first quarter before looking much more comfortable in the second, outscoring the Express by 15 points in the second frame before heading into the half with a 53-37 lead.

The Lightning would get out to as much as a 20-point lead in the third quarter before taking the foot off the gas and finding themselves being outscored in the third. Coach Plumb would rally his players for a strong fourth quarter push, scoring a game-high 35 points in the final frame.

Former Express guard Chris Jones lead the Bolts with a team-high 24 points while Cameron Forte posted another impressive double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Newcomer Jermaine Haley Jr. made his presence felt in his first game as a Bolt scoring 21 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Player of the Game Terry Thomas was a key part of the Lightning's big first half lead as the former Canadian Player of the Year scored 19 points off the bench with 12 rebounds and 5 assists.

Leading the way for the Express was first year players Jachai Taylor who had a game-high 29 points and 13 rebounds, and Lance Tejada who had 20 points and a game-high 7 assists as well.

The Lightning returns home to the Budweiser Gardens Saturday, March 5th for their next game against the KW Titans.
