London Lightning News Release

On Sunday afternoon, the 2039 fans in attendance at the John Labatt Centre were treated to a 401 match-up between the Lightning and the scrappy Oshawa Power. With Oshawa playing for their play-off lives, the final score read 129-117, in overtime, for the Lightning.

London has been playing at an excellent clip all season long, and especially in the new year. On the day, London's notable statistical leaders were Eddie Smith with 32 points, Shamari Spears had 31 points, and Tim Ellis with 29 and 11 rebounds, unstoppable in the fourth quarter.

"It was a great game and our team played unbelievable in overtime," explained coach Michael Ray Richardson on the overtime win tonight. "Eddie, Rodney, Tim and Shamari came up big for us. Shamari played the last 14 minutes of the game with 5 fouls and was a huge threat on the floor."

London is away from the John Labatt Centre for 11 days. They host Saint John on February 16th, at 7 pm.

London resumes action this week on the road on Friday, December 2nd against the Summerside Storm. They return home to play on December 10th against the Oshawa Power, in a back to back home game 401 battle, at 7:00pm.
