London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, Ontario) - This afternoon, in front of 3,211 fans at Budweiser Gardens, the London Lightning defeated the Brampton A's, 119-113. The Lightning now stand at 2-1.
"This afternoon, we handled a back to back situation very well," said Coach Carlos Knox. "Overall we came out more focused and determined to take control of the game. We made some mistakes down the stretch but those are things we can work on."
The Lightning's top scorer was sharp shooter Zane Johnson with 25 points. Marvin Phillips scored a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. John Hart and Emmanuel Little both chipped in 22 points.
"This was a very intense game. We came in with a chip on our shoulders after last night's embarrassing defeat in Mississauga. We came together as a team, we came out focused and we came out ready to play." said Marvin Phillips.
Flenard Whitfield of the Brampton A's led all scorers with 27 points.
The Lightning will play their next game on the road against the A's in Brampton this Tuesday. Their next home game will be this coming Saturday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Budweiser Gardens.
Saturday marks the Lightning's annual purple game in support of the London Abused Women's Centre's Shine the Light campaign. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to show their support. The Lightning players will be in special edition purple jerseys which will be autographed and auctioned off after the game with all proceeds going to London Abused Women's Centre. Tickets are available through the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
