Lightning Stay Undefeated at Home

(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning won their sixth straight game and remain undefeated at home as they pulled out the 131-122 win over the visiting Island Storm. The Bolts welcomed back Omar Strong to the lineup after missing the previous four games, and his hot shooting immediately made an impact. A trademark for the team this season, the Lightning continued to shoot a high percentage from the field while also tightening it up from the free throw line. As a team, the Lighting shot 55.8% from the field while also shooting 79.3% from the line.

Despite a 23 point lead midway through the second quarter, and heading into the halftime break with a 13 point lead, the Lightning at had to withstand several Storm runs to get the win. The Storm were able to close the gap to seven points in the fourth quarter and out scored the Lightning in the second half. The Lightning's defense has been their calling call early in the season but have been scoring more as of late.

The Lightning had six players score double-figures lead by veteran Canadian, Garrett Williamson who had a game-highs in points (30) and assists (11). In his first game back, Omar Strong went off for 28 points on seven made three pointers while big man Randy Phillips had another solid performance with 20 points of the bench. Rounding out the scoring was Xavier Moon (13), Otas Iyekekpolor (13) and Anthony Gaines Jr (11).

The Lightning's five-game home-stand came to an end tonight are on the road for their next three games, starting with an east coast matchup with the Halifax Hurricanes. The Bolts will return home February 1st to take on the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans.
