London Lightning News Release
(London, Ontario) On Thursday night, the London Lightning closed out their preseason with a loss, thus splitting their home-and-home series with the Oshawa Power. For Oshawa, their strong start and consistency - they scored 44 points in each half - has to give them momentum going into the regular season.
London's .500 road record in exhibition games wasn't enough to appease head coach Michael Ray Richardson, "This is a preseason game and that is the type of game you have to learn from. We must go in and play everybody the same way, we can't take nights off."
Oshawa shot 42% from the field in the first half, so it was a more inspired effort by the Lightning in the game's second frame that allowed things to appear much closer in the box score.
Led by great defense from DeAnthony Bowden and Eddie Smith, and Gabe Freeman's double double (16 point, 17 rebounds), the Lightning served notice to the league that no lead is safe against them.
The Lightning now have a week to prepare for Thursday November 3rd's home opener against Halifax.
