(LONDON, Ontario) - Sunday afternoon in front of 6,494 fans at Budweiser Gardens, the London Lightning beat the Island Storm 114-105.

It is the Lightning's ninth win in a row. The team's record now stands at 12-2.

Stephen Maxwell had another double-double (28 points, 18 rebounds), but it was Marcus Capers' defence that set the tone for the Lightning (three blocks, three steals).

London continues to have the top defence in the league, as teams are scoring just 102.8 points against them per game.

The game never seemed in doubt as the Lightning took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

In the third quarter, the Bolts broke away as Ryan Anderson, Nick Okorie, and Mustafaa Jones all hit multiple threes. Anderson would finish with the best shooting percentage, hitting 4 of 8 from three point range.

"When you can find, every night, six or seven guys that are going to contribute, coaching is easy. I haven't done anything that anybody else wouldn't do with this group," said coach Kyle Julius. "You've just won nine in a row, you've just won three in two and a half days, that shows your toughness and resiliency."

Capers took home player of the game honours with 15 points and seven rebounds.

"I'm building my confidence, staying positive. I think that's has a lot to do with my success lately," he said. "I can't hit shots like Nick (Okorie) so I got to find other ways."

London will get a few days rest before taking off for Windsor to face the Express in the Clash at the Colosseum on Wednesday.

Their next home game is on Thursday, Feb. 4 against the St. John Mill Rats.

Tickets are available through the Budweiser Gardens box office or online.
