Lightning Ring In New Year With Win

(LONDON, ON) The New Year rang in like the old one: with a London Lightning victory. The Lightning picked up the 102-93 win over the Windsor Express in a rematch from London's lone loss of the season. With the win, London moves to 3-1 on the season and sits alone a top the National Basketball League of Canada's Central Division, while Windsor falls to 1-1.

London had their best first half of play so far this season, going into the halftime with an 18 point lead, following the hot shooting of forwards AJ Gaines Jr and Mareik Isom who combined for 27 first half points. After going up by as much as 20 points in the third quarter, Windsor battled back and tied the game at 74 points apiece before Xavier Moon and London's league best defense closed out the game in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter.

On the night of that he celebrated his birthday, Lightning point guard Xavier Moon put in another statsheet filling performance, leading the game with 27 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Two other London players reached 20 or more points on the night: Mareik Isom with 21 and 10 rebounds and Anthony Gaines Jr who added 20 points and 9 rebounds. Canadian, Garrett Williamson, also added 15 points in the Lightning win.
