Lightning Open Playoffs with Win

(LONDON, ON) - Lightning fans were treated to an exciting opening game of the 2022 NBL Canada Playoffs as the Bolts escaped with the 106-99 come from behind win. London now leads the series 1-0 over the Express.

Windsor came out motivated and energized matching London point for point before going on a small run to take the lead midway through the first quarter. London was slow to match the Express' energy but was able to close out the quarter on a run, taking the narrow 26-25 lead heading into the second quarter.

Chris Jones and Amir Williams would lead London with 9 and 8 points respectively, extending their lead to a game-high 11 points before ending the first quarter up 58-47.

Third quarters continue to be struggle for the Bolts as Windsor would resort to brute force and bully tactics to dominate their way to scoring 40 points in 12 minutes. London would find themselves down five with 12 minutes to go. The Bolts would buckle down and keep their cool late in the game, coming back from 9 down and relying on a little help from the basketball Gods as the Express would miss all six of their free throws late in the game and manage to score only 12 fourth quarter points.

London was led by Newcomer of the Year candidate, Amir Williams' 22 points and 7 rebounds.

Chris Jones made his return to the court after serving a six game suspension and was named player of the game posting 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists off the bench. Canadian Terry Thomas was spectacular on both sides of the ball, scoring 12 points to go along with a game- high 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Jermaine Haley (14 points), Mareik Isom (14 points) and Cam Forte (10 points) made it six players who scored in double-digits for the Bolts.

Jachai Taylor was the top man for the Express, scoring a game-high 23 points while Billy White added 18, 8 and 8 on the night. Nick Garth, Tanner Stuckman and Anderson all scored double- digits for the Express.
