London Lightning News Release

In what was the first ever meeting between the visiting London Lightning and Summerside Storm, London won the NBL Canada game, 115-105 in front of 1,628 fans. The win keeps London atop the league standings, while the Storm drop a game under .500 with their 6th loss of the season.

"It was a good game and was even better that we came back and won," explained Coach Richardson of a game in which his team trailed until the fourth quar- ter. "During the first half we walked in quick sand. We gave up 25 offensive rebounds which is too much. They outrebounded us in the game 62-48. The only thing that ended up bringing us back was our defense. On the positive side anytime you can come back and win on the road is a great thing. It was a great team effort to pull out the win"

Statistically, the numbers reveal a tight game: only one personal foul separated the teams; both London and PEI used 10 players, and each team had 18 as- sists. However, London featured a whopping seven players that scored in double digits on the night. Eddie Smith lead the way with a stat line of 23 points, 8 helpers, and 6 boards - and he came off the bench!

Smith had this to say about his performance, "I got a starting spot in the second half and was able to become a leader on offense. The key to coming back for our team was to play defense, so when I got back on the court I wanted to make sure that was my top priority. My offensive game just came naturally after we got a couple stops."

The Lightning travel to Moncton to face the Miracles in their second game on the road tomorrow, Saturday, December 3rd.
