London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) - It was a much different start for the Bolts compared to the last time these two teams met, as the Lightning took an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a comfortable 111-93 victory and a 5-0 start to the season.
London showed an energy that had been missing in previous games, an energy that led them to an early lead in the first quarter. Suffocating defense played a major role in their early lead as they held the Titans to 15 points in the opening frame.
After taking a 59-34 lead heading into the half, London allowed the Titans to climb back into the game, cutting the lead to 10 points, before Coach Plumb used a few key timeouts to rally the team into finishing the game strong. The Lightning's league-leading defense held their opponent to under 100 points for the fourth time this season.
Chris Jones was named Player of the Game after leading the team with a near triple-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists on the night. Canadian Terry Thomas and Jermaine Haley Jr pitched in 17 and 16 points respectively while big man, Amir Williams added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylon Tate had a well-rounded game for the Bolts posting 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
NBL Canada veteran Joel Kindred led the Titans with a game-high 19 points on an inefficient 6- 16 shooting from the field.
