(LONDON, ON) Despite a injury depleted roster that had three of London's
top four scorers sidelined, the Lightning battled through a tough 48 minutes to pick up the 112-97 victory over the Halifax Hurricanes. London started the game out with great energy before gradually falling behind and playing catchup the rest of the second and third quarters. The Canes and Bolts would tie and exchange leads 9 times each throughout the first three quarters before London used a huge fourth quarter to take over the game.
London struggled to find a rythem offensively at times and really missed the steady hands and expert shooting of Xavier Moon, Garrett Williamson, and Omar Strong. The Lightning posted lower than average shooting splits for field goals and three-point percentage but continued to show improvement from the free throw line, shooting a respectable 72% as a team.
Five Lightning players scored double-digits tonight with three players reaching 20 or more points including Mo Bolden's 27, Gaines' 24 points and Randy's 20 off the bench. Point guard, Marvin Binney, started his first game and scored a season-high 19 points while Maracus Capers added a near triple- double of 16 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists.
