TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning & Tampa Bay Storm will honor the 2006 Class 4A State Champion Plant High football team during the first intermission of Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes (7:30 p.m., Sun Sports, AM 620 WDAE). Plant became the first Tampa football team to win a state championship since 1969 when they defeated Ponte Vedra Beach's Nease High, 25-21, at Miami's Dolphin Stadium, capping a 15-0 season.

The team will also be recognized on the Chrysler/Jeep Plaza prior to the Lightning-Hurricanes game.

The Tampa Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame presented Weiner with the Billy Turner Coach of the Year Award for the second consecutive year at the group's 38th Annual High School Coaches' Award Luncheon Friday.

Plant fans and supporters wishing to attend the game can do so at a special discounted price. Anyone interested should call Mike Sage at 813.301.6859.
