October 11, 2011 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Georgia Gwizzlies News Release

The late-great Dennis Johnson once told me."Embry the only difference between where I coach in the D-League and your league is that a Billion dollar corporation called the NBA backs my league.Josh Powell,Matt Barnes,Jamario Moon all made it to the majors from ABA and minor league exposure. Anybody remember the $150 a week Moon was paid at WBA Rome team'Moon makes millions now.Guys hear the word Pro Basketball and grandeur gets in their eyes and heads. Dennis also said pay the players even it's only $25 bucks a game. This story about life in the minors will be printed each week so no future Georgia Gwizzlies come to Atlanta with basketball fantasy and pipe dreams.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
