Liberty Thumped at Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 11, 2026) - The New York Liberty (20-14) dropped a road game to the Indiana Fever (21-12), 106-92.
Sabrina Ionescu scored 19 points with five assists, four rebounds and two steals on 63.6 percent (7-for-11) shooting from the field. Ionescu passed Tari Phillips (1,077) for fourth on the Liberty's franchise rebounding list and connected on a 3-pointer for the 17th consecutive game. Breanna Stewart added 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal. This was Stewart's 24th consecutive game scoring in double figures and recording at least one steal or block, the longest such streak in the league this season and just one game shy of tying her own franchise record. Ionescu and Stewart pitched in at least 19 points, four rebounds and five assists each, marking the 12th time in franchise history that two or more players have recorded such a stat line in the same game.
Jonquel Jones posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to go with three blocks while shooting 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from the field and 75 percent (3-for-4) from deep. Jones became the first player in franchise history to record a double-double with three blocks and three 3-pointers multiple times in a Liberty uniform. She is the only player to record multiple such games in 2026, and joins Elena Delle Donne (2019) and Napheesa Collier (2025) as the only players to do so multiple times in a single season throughout WNBA history. Jones recorded her 39th career game with multiple blocks and multiple 3-pointers to pass Candace Parker for the seventh-most such games in WNBA history, and her 119th career game with multiple blocks, tying Taj McWilliams-Franklin for the 13th-most in WNBA history.
Rebecca Allen finished with 11 points on 66.7 percent (4-for-6) shooting from the field and 60 percent (3-for-5) shooting from long range while grabbing two rebounds and tying her season high with three made 3-pointers. Allen knocked down multiple 3-pointers for the third consecutive game, marking her longest such streak since 2021 and the second-longest of her career. She also reached double figures in scoring for the third straight game, which is also her longest such streak since 2021 and the second-longest of her career.
Han Xu put up seven points, five rebounds and a block off the bench and tied her career high with two steals. This was the first time since 2022 that Han recorded multiple steals in a single half, and the third time in her WNBA career. Rebekah Gardner tied her career high for the second consecutive game with four offensive rebounds while adding six points, six rebounds and a block. Marine Johannès led the Liberty bench with eight points.
Indiana got off to a strong start with a 10-2 run from 8:21 to 6:16 in the first. Stewart scored or assisted on 15 of New York's 23 points in the opening period, but the Fever led 29-23 after the first. Indiana took a 64-46 lead into the break despite the Liberty doubling the Fever's rebounding total in the second quarter, 8-4.
New York began the second half on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to single digits, but Indiana led 87-67 entering the fourth quarter. The Liberty won the fourth quarter 25-19, but the Fever held on for a 106-92 win. New York outrebounded the Fever 39-27, including a 13-4 advantage on the offensive glass, and grabbed nine offensive rebounds after halftime to match the team's season high for a single half. This was the Liberty's 29th game with at least 30 rebounds in 2026, which leads the WNBA this season. New York extended the team's franchise record for consecutive games with 10 or more second-chance points (16) and scored more than 90 points for a WNBA-record ninth straight game.
