GAME NOTES
Lexington SC has faced off against CV Fuego FC once already this season, suffering a 2-1 defeat on a scorching Fresno night on July 15. Ates Diouf was the lone goal scorer in the contest.
The match against CV Fuego FC will be the second of three the club will have this season. The boys in green will travel back to Fresno on September 10. With 11 matches left on the schedule for LSC, Fuego is one of just two teams the club still has to face twice, the other being Greenville Triumph SC.
Lexington SC's Tate Robertson has enjoyed a stellar season thus far, standing tied for third in the league in assists with six. He is also fourth in the league in chances created with 36 and second in big chances created with 10. Robertson also has two goals of his own to his name this season.
CV Fuego FC will enter the match without starting goalkeeper Mitch North, who was shown straight red in the 16th minute against Tormenta FC after using his hands outside the box. North made six saves the first time the two clubs faced off, being named USL League One Goalkeeper of the Week in Week 18 for his efforts.
Maximus Ekk is the man to watch for CV Fuego FC. Despite only having scored two goals thus far this season, the 17-year-old striker scored his first goal of the season the first time he faced Lexington SC. He then followed that up with a second goal against Charlotte Ind., helping boost the squad to a two-match winning streak, the only winning streak it has had all season. While the Fuego offense has only scored one goal, a penalty kick, in the three matches since, Ekk poses a threat to any defense that makes the mistake of underestimating him. Being diligent defending Ekk could be critical for a Lexington SC victory.
