Lexi Bender Wants Isobel Back with the Pride

Determined to bring the Isobel Cup back to Boston, Lexi Bender will be back with the Pride for her third NWHL season.
"My goal this year is to do anything and everything I can to help the Pride win the Isobel Cup," said Bender. "I'm sick of seeing pictures of other teams with it all summer!"
Bender was selected 15th overall in the 2015 NWHL Draft and enjoyed a very successful four years at Boston College from 2012-2016. During her time at BC, Bender received All-Hockey East honors in all four seasons while totaling 19 goals and 76 assists for 95 points in a program-record 154 games played.
She has continued to develop over her first two pro seasons as an outstanding defender with the Pride, having been selected for Team NWHL and the 2018 All-Star Game in Minnesota last season.
Bender has been a strong competitor since she first began playing hockey. Raised in Snohomish, Washington, from age 5 to 14 she played in the boys' division of the Seattle Junior Hockey Association. Bender played four years of high school hockey at the legendary Shattuck St. Mary's, winning the national championship for Tier I U16 and U19.
While Bender is a valuable player on the ice, she has also made a significant effort at having an impact on society as well. Bender was one of four recipients last season of the NWHL Foundation Awards, which are presented to the players most actively applying the core values of hockey to their community as well as advancing the game and improving hockey culture.
"Giving back to young players is the best part about playing in the NWHL," she said. "It's something I try to never take for granted, and an opportunity I take very seriously."
