Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME - This series is far from over as the MAINEiacs now only trail by 1 game with tonight's 2-1 victory over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Despite returning home from Cape Breton down 2-0 in this best of 7 first round series, the MAINEiacs showed a lot of heart tonight lead in large part due to an unbelievable performance by Jonathan Bernier.

The MAINEiacs found themselves in penalty trouble again early in the 1st period, but the PK unit and Bernier withstood the early pressure where at one time the Eagles were outshooting the MAINEiacs 11-3.

Lewiston then jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Kevin Marshall and Stefan Chaput to close out the opening frame. In the second, Cape Breton finally converted with the man advantage early in the 2nd as Dean Ouellette scored his 2nd of the post season. But that would be as close as they would come.

Due to the extreme distance between these teams, this series is played as a 2-3-2 with games 4 scheduled for tomorrow night and game 5 on Friday, both at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
