Lewiston Defeats Victoriaville, 4-3

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


Lewiston, ME - The Lewiston MAINEiacs defeated the Victoriaville Tigres 4-3 in front of 2,001 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Sunday night. With the win, the MAINEiacs improve to 3-3 on the season.

The first period began with Matt Bourdeau scoring his second goal of the season with an assist from Michael Chaput and Lucas LaBelle That goal was followed by Captain Danick Paquette's first goal of the season. Not to be outdone, Victoriaville got on the board with goals by Olivier HInse and Keven Dupont.

In the second, the Tigres' David Cliche, brother of former MAINEiac Captain and current Manchester Monarch Marc-Andre Cliche, scored his second goal of the year at his brothers old stomping grounds. A little over 7 minutes later, Lewiston's 2008 first overall pick scored the first goal of his QMJHL career. Garrett Clarke scored a memorable first goal with a sniper shot from the red line with an assist from goaltender Peter Delmas on the power play.

In the third the MAINEiacs shut the door. Danick Paquette was back for more with a goal at 8:51 into the period for the second MAINEiacs power play goal of the night.

MAINEiacs netminder Peter Delmas picked up his first win of the season after returning from the Colorado Avalanche's rookie camp. Delmas faced 30 shots in net for the win, while the combined effort of Victoriaville goaltenders Antonio Mastropietro and Loic Boivin faced 28 shots from the MAINEiacs. The three stars of the game were 1) Danick Paquette, 2) Garrett Clarke, and 3) Deven Dupont from Victoriaville.

The MAINEiacs head out on Thursday for a tour of Nova Scotia. The MAINEiacs will face a tough Cape Breton Screaming Eagles line up on Friday and Saturday, then will head for the Metro Centre in Halfax for a date with the Mooseheads.

The MAINEiacs will be back on home ice on Friday, October 10 to face division rivals the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
