Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats rode the hot hand of Tyrone Levett to overcome a 7-point fourth quarter deficit late and beat the Ottawa SkyHawks, 116-109.

"The game is never over, and this team shows alot of heart and fight," said Levett."My teammates did a great job of getting me open shots and showed confidence in me."

Levett had been 0-9 from the field going into the fourth quarter, but that didn't faze the veteran down the stretch when he drained 4 straight three pointers to turn a deficit to a win.

The game was a back-and-forth affair with the high scoring SkyHawks taking a 58-52 lead shortly before intermission. But a basket by Anthony Anderson, a subsequent steal by Anderson and a layup, and a running finger roll as time expired tied the score up 58-58 at the half.

The Mill Rats built their own lead at 91-83 with 1:08 left in the third. Ottawa went on a 22-7 run to claim a 105-98 lead behind the red hot shooting of Ryan Anderson with 6 min left, setting up Levett's heroics.

Anthony Anderson led Saint John with 28 points, Tyrone Levett scored 19, Chris Matthews 18, Casey Love 16, and Doug Herring Jr. had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. Ryan Anderson scored 34 for Ottawa.

Saint John's record is now 8-5 and maintains first place in the Atlantic Division. The Ottawa SkyHawks drop to 8-7.

The Mill Rats game is at Moncton on Thursday December 12th. Next weekend is a double header of home games: on Saturday December 14th at 7PM they play host to the Windsor Express, and on Sunday December 15th at 4:00PM play the Moncton Miracles.
