Montreal Impact News Release
Hello,
I am deeply saddened that I won't be able to play in Sunday's game against the Puerto Rico Islanders, due to the fact that I am getting married this weekend. It is unfortunate that I will miss this most important semifinal game, but I am living a very significant moment in my personal life.
When I decided to take this important step a few years ago, I wasn't a member of the Montreal Impact yet. I informed the organization that I was getting married on October 3, 2009, before I signed my contract with the club on May 22, 2008. On that day, the club gave me the opportunity to live a lifelong dream of playing again in front of my family and friends, and representing my hometown in a sport which I love to play and am passionate about.
Please believe me when I say that I would love to be by my teammates' side to fight and win this game tonight so that we can get one step closer to achieving our goal of winning a third championship.
It goes without saying that I take extreme pride in representing this city and the colours of the Montreal Impact when I walk onto the pitch.
I apologize if I have caused our fans, media, club and city to feel disappointed and disrespected. I hope that you can understand and respect this decision I have made in my personal life.
Sincerely,
Rocco Placentino
Midfielder #9
