The Albany Legends completed the 3 game weekend sweep of the Oregon Waves, with a 144 - 97 win at Christian Brothers Academy.
For the third night in a row, Albany again shot better than 50% dropping in 56.2% on the night including 45.9% from beyond the arc putting 9 of 11 players in double figures. Tonights faster pace, led to a number of fast break baskets for both teams, and a complete game in 1 hour 29 minutes
Oregon's Travis DeGroot led all scorers with 24 points and a double double pulling down 12 rebounds in the game, Zach White added 18 with Hosni Ali hitting for 17 and Drew Gladstone had 12 to help the Waves cause.
Albany's defense harassed Oregon with 16 steals and 8 blocks on the night and the Legends took advantage of the Waves 39.4% shooting by hauling down 45 rebounds off the defensive glass. The offensive performance was highlighted by the sharp passing Legends dishing out over 30 assists for the contest with Lloyd Johnson leading the way with 9 on the night. For the evening Albany's balanced scoring was led by EJ Gallup's 20, followed by Emanuel Mayben and Johnson with 18 each. Will Harris added 14, while Scott McRae, Damone Morris, and Chris Grant each canned 13. Scott Morton and Adam Abdourhamane both scored 10, with Morton just 1 rebound shy of the double double. DeAndre Thomas also missed the DD with just 9 points but led the team in rebounds with 11.
The Wave drop to 3-3 on the season. Albany advances to 7-2 in the 2011 IBL campaign and is in first place in the International Division.
Albany will host the Edmonton Energy in a 3 game weekend set beginning this coming Friday night through Sunday, May 13 - 15, at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in Colonie NY. Tip off on Friday is at 7:05 PM.
