Legends Game Announced

Richmond Renegades News Release


The Richmond Renegades today announced they will feature a "LEGENDS OF RICHMOND HOCKEY" game on Saturday, March 22nd at 5:30 PM. The game will precede the Renegades regular season final game against the Twin City Cyclones. The game will consist of two twenty minute running time periods with the "Legends" split in two squads.

The "Legends" game will feature players who have suited up for any of the professional hockey teams since the Richmond Robins. Players who are currently scheduled to play include BRIAN GOUDIE, SCOTT GRUHL, DAVID BROSSEAU, DAVID HYMOVITZ, RICHARD PITIRRI, DEREK SCHUTZ, CHRIS PUSCIAN, CHAD ACKERMAN, BOB JONES, ROD TAYLOR AND BRYAN MCKINNEY. Some other players who have been invited to play include JAY MURPHY, DARREN WETHERILL, JOHN LOVELL, TREVOR SENN AND ROD LANGWAY. Former Renegades head coach and hockey legend, JOHN BROPHY will coach one of the "Legends" squads.

The players will wear a special jersey which will be auctioned off immediately after the "Legends" game. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Children's Miracle Network.

"We are really excited about this reunion of Richmond professional hockey players and it should make for a fun hockey day," stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr., Renegades President and GM. "There are a lot of other players who we are still trying to contact and we welcome the public to call us if they have contact information on any former Richmond players."

Entry to this game is included for any fan that has purchased a ticket for either the Richmond Hockey Fights Cancer game at 1 PM or the Renegades vs. Twin City game at 7:35 PM. Doors to the Richmond Coliseum will open at 5 PM and the Coliseum Club pre-game buffet will be served at 6 PM.

The final regular season game will also include a post-game auction of the Renegades blue and gold jerseys. Fans who are successful in their bid for a jersey will not receive the jersey until after the final playoff game. The finals of the Miss Richmond Renegades contest will be held during intermissions.
