Las Vegas, NV - With two wins, 12-7 versus Bay Area Rosal and 14-6 versus Sacramento Surge this past weekend the Las Vegas Legends opened the 2013/14 2-0 on top of the Pacific Division.
The Las Vegas Legends started their 2013/14 PASL campaign for a championship. #9, Enrique Tovar, powered the convincing Las Vegas team with a total of 7 goals and 4 assists on the weekend. His teammate # 24, Ivan Campos had 3 goals and 5 assists, two other Legends, #12, Felipe Gonzalez and #5, Nicolas Benitez rounded out the top four positions on the PASL Scoring Leaderboard.
Although the Legends started both games a little slow, with veteran leadership mingled with the new young blood proved to be a substantial force for the competition.
The Legends outscored the Bay Area Rosal, new to the league this season 12-7 with goals from #9, Enrique Tovar (3), #12 Felipe Gonzalez (3), Nicolas Benitez, (2), #24 Ivan Campos (2) with #14 Aldo Flores and # 10 Ricardinho, each scoring one.
The game in Sacramento versus the Surge was equally impressive with goals from game MVP, #9 Enrique Tovar (4), #16 Ivan Simental, #5, Nicolas Benitez and #12 Felipe Gonzalez each with (2) and #10 Ricardinho, #13 Luis Suarez, #14 Aldo Flores and #24 Ivan Campos each with (1). The standout play of the weekend was when #12 Felipe Gonzalez pounded a classic and technically sound bicycle kick past the Sacramento keeper in the third quarter.
The Legends strength in scoring is only trumped by its strength in goal keeping with returning keepers, #1, Zeke Sanchez and #0 Chuy Molina each had impressive showings in their respective games. With this weekend's wins the Las Vegas Legends extended their regular season road winning stretch to ten consecutive games expanding from last season.
The Legends open their home stint this weekend, Sunday, November 10th at the Orleans Arena, 3:05 PM kickoff. Tickets are available at the Las Vegas Sportspark, 1400 North Rampart Blvd. (at Vegas Drive), or at the Orleans Arena ticketing window and website.
