Canton Legends News Release
CANTON, Ohio â The Canton Legends fall short in exciting match up against the top teams in the AIFL. Dan Larlham accounted for seven touchdowns as the faithful Legends lose to a touchdown thrown by Robbie Jenkins as time expired. Sylvester Brumfield scored early in the second half, while Eric Rector and Randall Knapp each scored two or more touchdowns.
Early in the first quarter Dan Larlham scored his first of his three touchdowns with an eight yard scamper. Mount Union graduate Chris Kern added more points on the board with a flashy interception return for a touchdown. The bandits came roaring back from a seventeen yard strike in the first quarter. An exciting thirty yard grab by Randall Knapp put the Legends within striking distance of scoring another touchdown but the Legends could only come up with a field goal by Andy Eminger. Jenkins fought back as he threw another touchdown this time from fifteen yards out. Electrifying quarterback Dan Larlham threw a forty yard touchdown pass to Eric Rector at the end of the first half. At halftime the Legends held the high flying Bandits offense to twenty two points and four turnovers.
Late in the fourth quarter down by seven points Larlham again scored a rushing touchdown, his third and final of the game. New head coach Brian Young made a wise and exciting call as they went for the two point conversion. Larlham fumbled the snap, calmly picked it up and threw for the lead as the legends went up 57-58. The Legends ultimately did not hold on as Robbie Jenkins hit on a twelve yard touchdown pass as time expired.
