Legends defeat Soilders

Another Fun filled weekend of Legends basketball starts off with a battle for first place between the Kankakee County Soilders who are winners in their last 5 and the Albany Legends. The Soilders shot a lot of Threes in the first quarter making only 2 of the 13 attempts. The Legends not too much better at 2 for 8. Aaron Harrison and Ryan Edwards had 8 points apeice in the 28 point first quarter for the Soilders. The Legends were led by Deandre Thomas who had 10 of the 27 points. The Second quarter saw an outstanding shooting display by the Soilders who from 3 land shot 5 for 8 including 2 for 3 for Ryan Edwards who had 22 points in the first half. The Legends who at one point were down by 15 saw Kenny Satterfield shoot some big 3's both assisted by Damone Morris as well as a big steal and lay in for Satterfield as the Legends close the gap to 7 at the break down 63-57. Kenny Satterfield has 11 and DeAndre Thomas who was held scoreless still has 10. The Third quarter saw some great defensive work by Kenny Satterfield as he forced three turnovers in a row as the Legends started the Third with an 8-0 run. Gordie Klaiber made some great defensive plays as well with 2 blocked shots and a steal as well. The Legends though did not back down as they outscored the Soilders 32-18 in the third quarter. DeAndre Thomas scored 13 points after being shut down in the second quarter. The fourth quarter was an up and down battle with the Legends taking a 10 point advantage midway through the fourth. Jermaine Tate added to his blocked shots with 3 more in the quarter as well as Rico Hill of the Soilder who batted 2 away. Satterfield added 14 more points in the final stanza for the Legends. Ryan Edwards lead the way for the Soilders with 33 points and 13 rebounds. Kenny Satterfield scored 29 points 4 rebounds and 5 assist with DeAndre Thomas scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Demone Morris had 22 points and 9 rebounds as the Legends take game one of the three game series 121-103. These two teams meet tomorrow night for game two at 7:00 P.M at the Washington Avenue Armory.
