Lexington Legends News Release
APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY.) - The Houston Astros announced the release of the 2007 Lexington Legends roster on Monday. The Legends will feature 23 new players, including former number one draft pick Max Sapp.
Only two familiar names return in 2007. Koby Clemens is set to start the season at Applebee's Park. Clemens hit .229 while playing third base for the Legends in 2006. Left-hander Doug Arguello will provide veteran leadership for a young Lexington pitching staff. Arguello made ten starts for the Legends in 2006, going 0-3 with a 6.42 ERA.
The Legends are loaded with prospects at the catching position. Ralph Henriquez, 2005 3rd round selection, and former free agent, James Goethals, join Sapp.
The Legends pitching staff features eight right-handers and four left-handers. Lefty David Qualben figures to be one of the anchors. Qualben posted a 5-5 record and a 2.25 ERA for Tri-City last season. Chad Wagler bolsters a Legends bullpen that figures to be strong. Wagler recorded a 2.87 ERA for Tri-City.
The Legends infield figures to be strong with Clemens holding the hot corner. Cesar Quintero is expected to help the Legends score plenty of runs after hitting .333 last season in the New York/Penn League.
Jordan Parraz heads up a potent outfield. Parraz hit .336, belted 6 home runs and delivered 36 RBI for Tri-City in 2006.
