Dodge City Legend News Release

MILFORD, CT (August 31, 2005) - The United States Basketball League's (USBL) Dodge City Legend have promoted Dale Osbourne to General Manager. Osbourne will also continue to be the team's Head Coach, a position he has held since 2004 with the Legend. "I am looking forward to this challenge," stated Osbourne, "This is new territory for me, but I am eager to get started and ready to go." Dale was offered the job after winning the 2005 USBL Championship in late June. He has a 40-20 record over his two seasons as head coach with the Legend. Last season, Dodge City set the USBL's longest consecutive regular season home-court winning streak after winning their first twelve games at the Dodge City Civic Center. The only person to have coached or played in every one of those games was Dale Osbourne, giving him first-hand knowledge of the winning tradition in Dodge City, "It always starts at the top. The commitment of the owners and the support of the fans and community are invaluable," stated Osbourne. Prior to being named Dodge City's Head Coach, Osbourne was an assistant coach under Cliff Levingston for the 2003 Legend team that went on to become USBL Champions. After helping the Legend that season, Osbourne joined the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars as an assistant coach under Shell Dailey who took over the team midseason. Dale has also spent time in the CBA. He was the associate head coach of the CBA's Gary Steelheads (02-03) after serving as an assistant coach for Grand Rapids for two seasons (00-02). Osbourne's resume includes a brief stint overseas coaching the Vasda Legacy All-Stars in 2000 as well. The hiring of Osbourne comes after Dodge City's former General Manager, Chris Pyle, stepped down from his position with the Legend to become assistant principal at local Comanche Intermediate Center. Pyle believes ownership made the right decision in hiring Osbourne, "He knows Dodge and the people know and respect him as well. It is wonderful for the team to maintain the continuity that has contributed to its great success over the past six years."
