Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins have recalled forward Guillaume Lefebvre. The veteran will join the team today in Philadelphia and be available for tonight's game between Boston and the Philadelphia Flyers. With the move, the P-Bruins have 21 players on their roster, including 11 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.
Lefebvre, 28, returns to Boston's roster for the third time this season. The winger was first recalled by Boston on Saturday, October 17 and traveled to Arizona for the parent Bruins' 4-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes that evening. Lefebvre saw 11:01 of ice-time while going scoreless in his Bruins debut.
After being assigned to Providence on Sunday, October 18, Lefebvre later appeared in the P-Bruins' victory over the Pirates and collected 17 penalty minutes. He was again recalled after the Providence win but was returned to Rhode Island the next day without appearing in a game for Boston.
In five games for the P-Bruins this season, the native of Amos, Quebec, has registered one assist and 42 PIM. He appeared in his 400th professional game against the Hartford Wolf Pack on October 9. Lefebvre was invited to Boston's training camp on a tryout agreement and appeared in five preseason games before signing a one-year contract with the club on September 26.
In his NHL career, Lefebvre has totaled six points (2g, 4a) and 13 PIM in 39 games for Boston, Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The eighth-year pro was originally selected by the Flyers 227th overall in the seventh round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Providence returns to action this weekend with two games as the P-Bruins host the Worcester Sharks on Friday, October 23 at 7:05 p.m. for Tote Bag Night, and then travel to face the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday, October 24 at 7 p.m. To purchase 2009-10 season tickets, Flex Tix or individual game tickets, please call the P-Bruins ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or log on to the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
