
Learn From The Pros at Icehawks Hockey School

Port Huron Icehawks News Release
PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League will host their second-annual Hockey School July 27 - July 31 at Glacier Pointe Ice Arena in Port Huron.
Learn from the pros with instruction by Icehawks forward Tab Lardner, defensemen B.J. Adams and Ian Turner and goaltender Larry Sterling. Icehawks coach Stan Drulia and goaltending coach Jon Hillebrandt will also serve as instructors. The school will focus on power skating, stick-handling and shooting through both on-ice and off-ice training.
The camp is open to kids ages 6-14 and runs from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day. Students will be grouped based on age and ability.
Admission is $365 for the five-day camp and includes lunch each day and a unique camp jersey. Special rates are available for teams of 10 and more. Payment is due in full by July 1. Should the camp be cancelled due to low participation, money will be refunded in full.

Meet Your Instructors:
Tab Lardner is an eight-year professional who skated with the Icehawks for the past two seasons. In the 2008-09 season, he served as team captain and was named Outstanding Defensive Forward in the International Hockey League. He finished the season with 65 points (37g, 28a) in 74 games. In the 2007-08 season, Lardner led the Icehawks in points and was named to the IHL First-Team All-Stars.
B.J. Adams recently completed his ninth professional season and third in the city of Port Huron. The defenseman has served as player/assistant coach for the last three season, including one with the Port Huron Flags and two with the Icehawks.
Ian Turner was tied for the Icehawks team lead in scoring among defensemen in the 2008-09 season, with a career best 11 goals and 26 assists. The five-year pro came to the Icehawks after four seasons in the East Coast Hockey League.
Larry Sterling recently completed his fifth pro season and second with the Icehawks. The goaltender compiled a combined regular season record of 51-28-6-3 in two seasons with Port Huron. After leading the Icehawks to the Turner Cup Finals in the 2007-08 season, he caught the attention of the Detroit Red Wings and attended training camp with the team.
Stan Drulia has been behind the bench as a coach for seven seasons, including three in Port Huron. He led the Icehawks to back-to-back playoff appearances and was named the IHL Coach of the Year in the 2008-09 season. His career as a player spanned 13 years and included three seasons with the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning.
Jon Hillebrandt played seven years of pro hockey, including four seasons in the American Hockey League. A 10th round draft pick of the New York Rangers in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft, he was also a member of the 1994 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team.
