Law Look to Maintain Momentum against Oklahoma

Dodge City Law News Release

The Dodge City Law will travel to Tulsa for a crucial game against the fifth-ranked Oklahoma Defenders at the Cox Business Center on Saturday.

With a win, the Law will have a three-game cushion over Oklahoma and will guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs.

The Law come into the game riding a three-game winning streak and appear to be hitting their stride as a team. Last week against Omaha the Law put together their highest scoring half of football of the season when they scored 50 points in the first two quarters of the game.

Law Head Coach Sean Ponder said that it will be important for the Dodge City offense to pick up from where they left off last week.

"We did some pretty good things on offense last week," Ponder said. "We were able to play our style of football because we had some good blocking up front and the skill players did a good job of executing the game plan. Against Oklahoma it will be important for us to be able to move the ball and control the flow of the game like we did last week."

The Law defense has played well on a fairly consistent basis throughout the season, but has stepped it up a notch in the last two games.

"Two weeks ago the defense held Kansas to 12 points and then they limited Omaha to 20 points and gave up only 11 yards in the second half," Ponder said. "We knew going into the season that our defense was really talented and had the potential to be one of the best in the league. With a few exceptions, the defense has not disappointed us."

The Oklahoma offense, led by quarterback Bo Bartik, is loaded with talent including wide receivers Jeff Hughley and Packy Jones. Running back Kingjack Washington will also pose a challenge to the defense out of the backfield.

"(Bo) Bartik Is a smart quarterback who knows how to utilize the weapons he has on offense," Ponder said. "He has the talent and the playmaking ability to capitalize on defensive mistakes. We will need everybody to stay focused and be ready to make adjustments based on how Oklahoma comes out of the huddle."
