Lauren Chamberlain Gives Back

November 24, 2015 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
USSSA Pride News Release

Kissimmee, FL- Lauren Chamberlain has made herself known in the world of fast pitch. Notably as an elite player on the field and a large personality off the diamond. From countless nominations and titles earned in her sport, Chamberlain is continuing to make a name for herself and it's transcending the softball field.

Just in time for the holidays, Lauren has decided to take part in the 2015 Women's Sports Foundation Athlete Faceoff.

This grant-funding cause looks to support the WSF Travel & Training Program. This program aims to financially support female athletes with not only the athletic drive but the competitiveness that will allow them to reach their full potential on regional and even international stages.

"Since 1984, the Women's Sports Foundation has awarded grants to more than 1300 individual athletes and teams (WSF)." In that span of time, elite competitors such as Michelle Kwan and Gabby Douglas have been given the opportunity to achieve something they might not have if the Travel & Training Fund did not exist.

During her time at the 2015 WSF Annual Salute, Lauren had the opportunity to meet a few recipients of the grant who have benefited greatly from this cause and now represent our country at the highest level of competition with medals to prove their successes. This in itself inspired Lauren to take part and give back by launching her own fundraiser.

When asked why Lauren was adamant about this particular movement, among other organizations she's affiliated with, Lauren explained that she was very fortunate to have the means to train accordingly to fulfill her athletic aspirations growing up.

She added, "It is not fair to watch fellow athletes not able to reach their athletic potential and participate in life changing events because they do not have the financial means to do so. Every athlete should have an opportunity to train and compete, and this is where the Women's Sports Foundation comes in."

As of today, the faceoff has raised $8,535 but you can help this number increase by donating HERE today. You can donate to Lauren's personal page HERE. The last day to donate is December 4, 2015.

Your donation will ultimately fuel the journey of aspiring champions to reach their athletic ambitions sans the worry of finding the means to financially support themselves. A minimum $20 donation can also win you two tickets to the 2016 WSF Annual Salute on October 19th in New York City.

From Lauren herself, she asks you to put yourself in their situation; "Athlete or not, going after your dreams can be challenging, especially when a lack of money is the reason you cannot go through with it. These are the athletes of our country that will use your money to help them compete in front of the world. It is a great opportunity to directly play a role in greatness."

Lauren's efforts don't stop with the WSF Travel & Training Fund. Lauren is also affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of Norman, OK, Fields and Futures of Oklahoma City and Cleats for Kids of Oklahoma City.
